Wormley is EN10, north of Turnford on the way to Broxbourne, and it is really two places. There is the village along the main road, and there is Wormley West End, which climbs west into the woods on the Hertfordshire ridge. The two need different planning from us. The prices do not differ at all: £156 for a studio move-out clean, £61 for a through lounge carpet, £110 for a double oven.
Hall, stairs and landing is the single most booked job in this postcode, so it is worth setting out how that one is priced.
| What | Price |
|---|---|
| Stairs, per flight | £41 |
| Landing, each | £9 |
| Hall | £22 |
| Typical semi, hall, one flight and the landing | £72, clear of the £67 minimum |
| Two flights and two landings | £100 |
| Minimum on one off work | £67 |
Up at Wormley West End
The lanes running up towards the woods are unlit, and several houses sit behind gravel tracks, so through the winter West End work goes into daylight slots, just as it does at Goffs Oak.
A house that has stood empty over a winter up here wants a one off deep clean from £186 rather than a standard visit, because the damp and the cold sit on top of the dust and that takes longer than anybody expects.
Mud season
From October the woods put leaf litter and clay on every doormat within half a mile of them. Hall carpets take the worst of it, and the damage is mechanical rather than a stain, because grit sits at the base of the pile and cuts the fibre each time somebody walks over it. A hall and stairs clean at the end of winter is what most of this postcode books, and it is the right time to do it, once the mud has stopped coming in rather than halfway through.
The village end is straightforward
Along the main road the housing is more ordinary. Post-war semis, some older cottages, a bit of newer infill between them. Most of our work along here is regular housework, with move-out cleans whenever one of the rented houses changes hands.
Getting to you
We come up through Turnford, which takes about ten minutes from the middle of Cheshunt, so a morning start in Wormley is easy for us to hold and we rarely need to move one. There is no travel charge anywhere in the borough and no surcharge for the West End lanes, though Monster Cleaning Cheshunt will steer you towards a daylight slot for those between November and February. The price list covers everything and the areas page has the rest of the patch.
Questions we get asked
Do you go up to Wormley West End?
Yes, weekly. Through the winter we book West End work in daylight, at no extra charge. The prices are the same as the village and the same as Cheshunt.
How much is a hall, stairs and landing carpet clean?
Stairs are £41 a flight and the landing is £9 on top. The hall is £22. In a typical semi that makes £72 for the hall, one flight and the landing, which is over the £67 one off minimum without anything else added.
Can you clean a house that has been empty over the winter?
Yes, and it usually wants a deep clean rather than a standard one, from £186 for two cleaners over three hours. Empty houses in this part of EN10 tend to have damp and cold on top of the dust, which takes longer than people expect.
Which postcode is Wormley?
EN10, shared with Turnford and Broxbourne. Cheshunt itself is mostly EN8 with EN7 to the west at Goffs Oak. All of them are inside our normal working patch and none carries a travel charge.
